Bristol Airport, the UK’s third largest regional airport, needed a reliable waste solution for their modular air-side toilet blocks serving airline staff. The initial setup relied on effluent holding tanks, but weekly tanker visits were proved costly and disruptive. With strict security procedures, each tanker run could take up to half a day, driving up operations costs.

To solve the issue, the airport turned to the CABINPUMP Ultra. Installed just 150 metres from a nearby foul drain, the system pumps effluent directly from the blocks into the main sewer with minimal civil works required.

The results: operational costs have been reduced by over £1,000 per week, tanker disruption has been eliminated, and the airport now benefits from a clean, efficient, and sustainable waste management system.

The CABINPUMP Ultra has provided Bristol Airport with a semi-permanent, low-maintenance solution that’s improved both efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

As part of a major treatment works upgrade project, United Utilities and delivery partner MWH sought a smarter way to manage temporary welfare facilities on site. Traditional effluent tanks would have required frequent tanker visits, adding to costs, site traffic, and carbon emissions.

To address this, a CABINPUMP system was supplied to transfer waste directly into the site’s existing treatment works network. This eliminated the need for tankers, simplified logistics, and ensured a reliable wastewater solution with minimal disruption to the upgrade works.

The impact was immediate: vehicle movements were significantly reduced, lowering congestion on and around the site, while also cutting CO₂ emissions associated with tanker journeys

By replacing tankering with a pumped solution, United Utilities and MWH achieved both environmental and operational benefits, setting a strong example of how innovative site services can improve project delivery.
